After cloning a repository you usually only see the master branch on your local machine. So if you want to checkout an existing branch like e.g. develop, this can be easily done on the bottom right side of the PhpStorm screen:
If your develop Branch is behind the master branch you might want to merge the master branch into the develop branch like so:
